What is eustachian tube dysfunction?

Eustachian tube dysfunction is the inability of the eustachian tube to properly regulate air pressure inside the middle ear and/or effectively drain secretions from the middle ear. Unequal air pressure from outside air and air pressure in the middle ear can cause damage to the ear drum.
